May 2nd, 2010

Hola!
It's almost Cinco de Mayo, and instead of having a Cinco de Moustache party (typical of my college days), we're going to have an Ode to the Avocado.

Laugh all you want, but it's going to be delicious. I haven't settled on the menu completely, but i know the appetizer is going to be a chipotle shrimp on a bed of guacamole. Yep. Delicious.

Can't wait....

food pictures....

since i'm horrible at remembering to take pictures of the dinners, i'm going to just start posting pictures of any food that i make. that way people won't think that they are coming for a random formal dinner night. i love to cook and any opportunity to do so is relished.

so we have:
pineapple upside down cake
chicken pot pie
paula deen's deviled eggs
and a concoction of egg noodles, sausage, peppers and zucchini....not bad for a last minute dinner!

Trying Something New for Month 7!

Happy 7 Months of Chambers Family Dinner!

Apparently I missed the joyous occasion of our 6th month of CFD's, so we're going to celebrate this month instead. I've gotten addicted to foodgawker.com, which assembles beautiful pictures of gorgeous food from blogs all over the world. Usually, I simply do just that: gawk. However, not this week! This week i'm trying an in-season dish by the wonderful Mario Batali, a breezy summer salad, and homemade ice cream. I'm salivating already.

Menu for April 18th

homemade sweet tea & deviled eggs a la momma mader

fresh hearts of palm, feta, and tomato salad a la jamie poulos
spaghetti with pancetta and artichokes

pear and caramel ice cream

see you sunday at 6:30!!

Chambers Family Dinner: Menu for April 11th

Happy April!

You know, i really enjoy putting together these menus. Just like a good design, sometimes they fall together quickly and other times it feels forced. The trick is to simply sit back and let the idea marinate for minute. Or, if you're feeling impatient, call your mom and ask what she would do. She's amazing at that.

But anyway, this week i picked some items that i love separately, so i'm hoping that they taste good together. As Julia Child says, Bon Appetit!

Menu:
Golden onion & thyme dip with homemade pita chips

Ina Garten's chicken piccata
Creamy parmesan risotto
Orange-honey glazed carrots

and back by popular demand (and leftover apples from this week's charrette):
my Nena's apple cake

see you at 6:30 and bring a friend!!

Happy Easter!!

hi everyone!!

so, no CFD this weekend, in honor of easter. however, I hope you get some good time with your family or friends, celebrating life and redemption.....and eat some delicious delicious food.

As an update on CFD, we're working on business cards that we (and you) can take to pass out to anyone you think may enjoy our sunday nights with us. It is our hope that they would allow to connect with more and more people as the weeks pass. We'll let you know when they arrive!!

Oh, and i have to say....for those of you who missed last week, you missed probably my new favorite dessert: mixed berry pavlova by Barefoot Contessa. meringue topped with whipped cream topped with fresh blueberries and raspberries topped with a fresh raspberry sauce. heavenly...

have a great week!
